ALIVE AFTER FIVE® COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Mindy Skura, Remember Yesteryears Jewelry
Exchange
Alive After Five® is the Greater Patchogue Chamber of
Commerce's Friday night summer event. Its main purpose is to
promote Patchogue and showcase our many restaurants and
businesses by offering vendor space to our members, as well
as potential members. We offer five stages featuring local
bands (from jazz to rock 'n' roll), outdoor and indoor
dining at our restaurants, information booths, and theme
events.
AMBASSADOR COMMITTEE (NEW!!!)
CHAIRPERSON: TBD
Ambassadors are our "meet-and-greeters" who play the
essential role of retaining and communicating with all
potential and new members. They are a group of volunteers
who serve as our primary liaisons by encouraging
participation and involvement in Chamber programs, which
then augments the membership benefits and strengthens member
commitment. Ambassadors also assist in conveying member
needs, questions and concerns to the Chamber staff, who use
that information to promote or change policies and
procedures.
ANNUAL INSTALLATION DINNER COMMITTEE
CO-CHAIRPERSONS: Janet Pickett, Patchogue Printing and Web
Design and Carol Proven, Tall Tree Floral Designs of
Patchogue
The Annual Installation Dinner Committee is responsible for
the planning and coordination of installing our new slate of
officers and executive directors. Each year, the Committee
decides on a theme and nominates an honoree for the dinner,
as well as the J.P Spirit Award, which is given to an
individual who exemplifies commitment, service and spirit to
the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce. This is the night
we formally welcome in new members and board members, giving
recognition to those who have dedicated their time and
service to the Chamber.
BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE (Greater Patchogue Foundation
Committee)
CHAIRPERSON: Paula Murphy, Patchogue Garden Club
This committee plans the annual fundraiser, designs planting
areas and does plantings throughout the community.
BENEFITS COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Neil Weingarten, Conference Associates/NY
Business Group
The Member Benefits Committee provides information and
assistance with insurance and other Services for Chamber
members. They attend annual meetings and keep abreast of the
current laws and trends, then report back to the Board of
Directors to keep our members informed.
BROOKHAVEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE COALITION
CHAIRPERSON: Carol Proven, Tall Tree Floral Designs of
Patchogue
The Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce Coalition is comprised of
approximately 20 chambers located in the Town of Brookhaven.
By participating, Chambers are able to stay informed of what
is going on in the business world of Brookhaven. This
Committee also provides an avenue for the chambers to keep
the Coalition up to date on events taking place in their
chambers and provides an ongoing means of networking.
BUSINESS ACTION COMMITTEE (NEW!!!)
CHAIRPERSON: TBD
The Business Action Committee (BAC) is a "watchdog"
committee whose mission is to maintain a favorable business
climate in the Greater Patchogue area, the Town of
Brookhaven and the State of New York. It reviews issues that
affect business, makes recommendations for positions to take
on those issues, and forwards those positions to the
membership of the Chamber to act upon. The BAC rallies
letter-writing campaigns, and initiates discussions with the
Village, as well as our county executives and legislators.
BUSINESS PROMOTIONS COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Lori Belmonte, The Colony Shop
This Committee assists in promoting the Patchogue area and
the businesses within-making Patchogue a more active and fun
place to shop and visit. The Business Promotion Committee
has implemented many successful events, such as Breakfast
with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, July Sidewalk Sale Days, August
Sale Days, Halloween Happenings and other monthly promotions
to support our members.
BUSINESS SEARCH COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Marc Parente, Nationwide Insurance
The Business Search Committee diligently seeks out new
businesses to join the Chamber. They promote our membership
benefits, advertising opportunities, committees, networking
events and encourage potential members to become involved in
the community.
BYLAWS COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Harold Trabold, Dranitzke, Lechtrecker Trabold
& Johnson
The function of this Committee is to review and recommend
revisions to the Chamber Bylaws and propose these revisions
to the Board of Directors when necessary.
CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMITTEE (Greater Patchogue Foundation
Committee)
CHAIRPERSON: Jim Romeo, Civic Member
The aim of the Cultural Heritage Committee is to plan,
coordinate, promote and attend all community cultural
events. This Committee coordinates the annual St. Patrick's
Parade and the Passing of the Sash, 4 Miler "May the Road
Rise to Meet Ye" Run and St. Liberata Italian Festival.
These cultural events are essential in bringing both
residents and visitors to our community.
DIRECTORY COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Terry Tuthill, Long Island Advance
This Committee is responsible for producing, editing and
selling advertising for our yearly Chamber Directory. The
Directory is a membership perk, which is distributed to our
community, clients and customers. The directory is yet
another valuable tool to promote our businesses, events and
attractions.
EAST END FAÇADE GRANTS COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: TBD
The purpose of the East End Façade Grant Committee is to
provide financial assistance to property and business owners
seeking to renovate and restore building facades on Main
Street, east of Bay Avenue.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Harold Trabold, Dranitzke, Lechtrecker Trabold
& Johnson
The Finance Committee develops the proposed financial budget
for the upcoming fiscal year.
GRANTS COMMITTEE (Greater Patchogue Foundation Committee
& Chamber)
CHAIRPERSON: Jessica McAvoy, Patchogue Arts Council
The mission of the Grants Committee is to seek and identify
funding to provide financial resources that address quality
of life issues for all businesses and residents of the
Greater Patchogue Community. Elected officials and their
representatives who play a vital role in providing local,
town, county, state and federal funds are also invited to
attend these meetings. The Committee maintains an inventory
of current grant applications and monitors the progress of
each project until it is implemented.
MARKETING COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Melissa Kuehnle, St. Joseph's College
The Marketing Committee publicizes the efforts and events of
the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce through press
releases, print advertising, social media and media alerts.
NETWORKING COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Alicia DeMonte, Newsday
The Networking Committee is responsible for planning the
Chamber's monthly networking and general meetings. These
functions are important events for promoting your business
and services-the place where new and essential business
contacts can be made.
NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: George Hoag, BrickHouse Brewery & Restaurant
This Committee's goal is to distribute an informative
monthly newsletter that includes relative information on
what is happening in the Greater Patchogue area, pertinent
news about our members, as well as current and past events.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: James Space, Prudential Insurance, for
2012-2013 slate
The resolve of the Nominating Committee is to prepare a
slate of nominees for positions on the Chamber Board of
Directors that will be vacant in the next fiscal year, which
runs from October 1 through September 30. This year, we only
need one person for a two-year term and one person for a
three-year term.
RESTAURANT AND TOURISM COMMITTEE (NEW!!!)
CO-CHAIRPERSONS: James Skidmore, BrickHouse Brewery and
Alicia DeMonte, Newsday
Our newest committee at the Chamber will develop, market,
and promote strategies for the restaurants, hotels, theatre
and attractions in the Greater Patchogue area. The
Restaurant and Tourism Committee is essential to all Chamber
members-they will be the catalyst for bringing residents and
visitors to our community to dine, shop and enjoy great
entertainment.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: Donna Boyle, YMCA
The Scholarship Committee evaluates applications and assists
in awarding scholarships to the young and aspiring business
owners of our community.
THEATRE COMMITTEE (Greater Patchogue Foundation
Committee)
CHAIRPERSON: George Hoag, BrickHouse Brewery & Restaurant
Our Theatre Committee produces shows at The Patchogue
Theatre for Performing Arts. This includes preparing
contracts with the artist and theatre; all backstage
preparations, including food and other items required by the
contract; and arrangements for the sound and lighting.
Members write and send out press releases, mailings, ads,
and programs for the show, as well as coordinate and attend
the day of the event.
WATERFRONT COMMITTEE (Greater Patchogue Foundation
Committee)
CHAIRPERSON: TBD
The Blessing of the Fleet on the Patchogue River that takes
place on the first Sunday in June, is an annual tradition.
This Committee arranges for the boat and clergy and does all
of the advertisements. It also notifies the restaurants and
marinas on the Patchogue River and the Great South Bay.
WEBSITE COMMITTEE
CHAIRPERSON: TBD
The mission of the Website Committee is to keep the
Chamber's website up-to-date, correct and interactive. The
website should be populated with facts about the Chamber and
its members, including, but not limited to, contact
information, advertising, videos and events. This Committee
will also have the task of choosing a "Member of the Month"
to post to the homepage. |
